Peak Freaks annual Everest Training Climb begins October 4, 2012.
It's that time of year again when aspiring climbers for Everest or climbers with other mountain objectives join Tim Rippel and his team of Sherpa staff in Nepal to learn the ropes and endure the elements of what it takes to become a high altitude climber. This year is a bit different, the team will be on the move climbing three peak in four weeks all while in the eyes of Everest. Instead of moving up and down the same route and mountain they will be on the move tackling various mountain objectives. The focus will be learning useful technical skills and mental prepardness which is a key factor for a successful Everest climber. When nothing else seems to working like it used to on Everest, it's your mind that will pull everything together for you.
While on this boot camp style expedition they will get a true test of what will be required for an Everest bid before investing the time and money to learn you may be over your head or it's not what you dreamed it would be like. Participants will get to know Tim Rippel and his Peak Freaks operation and the Sherpa crew well in advance of their Everest round up.
Becoming a self-reliant climber for attempts on Everest is mandatory should something go wrong - there's no better place to learn than in the Himalayas.
This expedition will also serve climbers well who are in need of climbing equipment and clothing pre-Everest or other. Kathmandu is now the gear mecca for mountaineering equipment- both knock offs and the real deal so be sure to do your homework on the important stuff, things like climbing hardwear- stay clear!
Stay tuned for Spot Tracking on the team and occassional updates........ BR
